Sunday, June 29th

Well, it looks like at best I´ll be able to write once a week to let you know how I´m doing. My days are full of class, studying, reading, writing papers and trying to find a minute or two to eat and use the bathroom. Intense has taken on a whole new meaning here! But alas, I survived my first week and I´m forging ahead into a week of first exams, presentations and more homework! I have experienced a range of emotions from fear, regret, and disappointment to hope, perserverance and determiniation. My level of Spanish competence has made it a little more difficult for me when it comes to studying such academia in a second language, but I´m still surviving and finding ways to understand.

Wish I could tell you more at this point, but I haven´t had time to go out and see much of the town this past week. I do appreciate that Victor, the son in the house where I live, is a good ¨walking dictionary" if I don´t know what something means in my homework. I help him with his English and he helps me with my Spanish. The barter system still works.

I hope to post some additional pictures tonight as part of my study break, but if not, please know that I´ll do it next weekend. I hope and pray that all of you are having a good summer. Please keep in touch.

Hey there chica! Thanks for lending me your boys last week. We had fun cooking burgers & then swimming in the dark with the pool light on. Calvin was dunking his head under water, blowing bubbles. Very cute. Mark is home for 5 days before the next camp. I'm getting him set up on skype, too ;) Enjoy every day you have there... before you know it, you'll be home!

Thanks Ronda. You have no idea how nice it was to see you and know that "my boys" are spending quality time with you! These are challenging times, but they too will pass and I'll be home to toast 18 graduate credits and a little more change in my paycheck.

I miss our girl nights out! Hope you're having a good summer. Send my hugs to Mark. Keep me posted on the adoption too.

Love,

Sarah
